Jan. 22-28

Philippians 4:1-8

This week we pray for:

  • Whitworth’s inaugural Integration of Faith & Work Seminar that began this month and continues this week and through the semester. We pray that God would use this seminar to equip these 23 delightful Whitworth staff members to engage in their work as worship and witness in increasing measure. We give thanks for a great start to the program so far and the transformational conversations and community already occurring. We also pray for the leaders of the seminar: HR manager August Weil, campus pastor Lauren Taylor and Dean of Spiritual Life Forrest Buckner.
  • God to be drawing every Whitworth student closer to himself as Jesus is lifted up at Whitworth.
  • All of the students and leaders who are finishing up their study-abroad trips in Greece, Hawaii, United Kingdom, Idaho, Costa Rica, Panama, Italy, France, Spain, Denmark, Netherlands and Guatemala. We continue to pray for safe travels, for loving community, and for the seeds that have been planted to fall on fertile ground for development into the women and men God made these students to be as they become ones who more faithfully participate in his redemptive work in the world.
  • Students and faculty as they complete their Jan Term classes on Wednesday. We pray that the students would finish well and continue to absorb all that they have learned over the past three weeks.
  • Students beginning Jan Term break on Thursday, Jan. 25. We pray for safety, refreshment and rich community wherever they may be, on campus or away.
  • Faculty entering Jan Term break; that they would find much needed rest and refreshment alongside their needs to prep for spring semester.
  • Jan Term community worship service, “Chapsanna”, on Tuesday evening as we gather for a time of student-led music, prayer, testimonies and small groups.
  • Student-athletes training and competing; that they would experience God-honoring community and be growing into the women and men God made them to be through their athletic pursuits.
  • Whitworth Admissions and Student Financial Services staff as they continue their tireless work supporting current students and working to recruit the next incoming class of Whitworth students. We particularly pray for the “Why Whitworth” visit days that regularly occur on Fridays; that God would lead and guide the students and families in their desire to get to know Whitworth and that God would provide for Whitworth’s incoming class of 2024.

Thanksgiving:
Thank you, God, that because you are near, we can rejoice no matter what comes in life. Help us rejoice in you, regardless of circumstances, and share your joy through our love for others. We trust that you are at work as the living, active and loving Triune God who you are. Amen.
