Mark 9:14-24

This week we pray for:

  • Whitworth’s Board of Trustees and its meetings on campus this week. We give thanks for our trustees’ generous and wise support and stewardship of Whitworth’s mission, and we pray for God’s guidance and unity for them in their governance work.
  • Whitworth’s One Big Weekend 2023 that combines Homecoming and Family Weekend. We pray for safe travels, joyful reunions, encouragement for all and relationships that bless one another. We give thanks for these first-year students and their families in particular; bless them, Lord.
  • All who are involved in the production of Whitworth’s main-stage production of Much Ado About Nothing performing this weekend and next. We pray for transformative relationships and experiences for the cast and crew, and we pray that the play would be life-giving and enriching for all who attend.
  • All of our students who are veterans, active duty, ROTC or family members of those in the military; that they would know God’s love for them and their place at Whitworth. We particularly pray for Phil Labrie, our associate director for military & veterans outreach, as he and his team work to help vets and military-connected students thrive at Whitworth.
  • Campus Worship this week:
    • Chapel Community Worship as Associate Chaplain for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Ministry Stephy Nobles Beans preaches Tuesday in our series, “Good News! Jesus in the Gospel of Mark.” We also pray for Thursday’s service of music, testimony and the Lord’s Supper. We pray that God would stir in people to come to worship and that every person who comes would encounter God and others in meaningful ways.
    • Tuesday night’s student-led Hosanna worship gathering, for transformative encounters with God, particularly giving thanks for the amazing turnout and energy so far this year.
    • Wednesday night’s student-led AWAKE outreach ministry gathering, for God to grow in our students a heart for those who do not know Jesus and the boldness to engage with them well.
    • Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s reflective Morning Prayer services.

Thanksgiving:
Father-Son-Spirit God, thank you that you love us in our humanness and that our doubts do not disqualify us from worshipping you, trusting you, following you and obeying you. Help us be honest about our doubts this day, and increase our trust in you, even as we wrestle. We pray that the light of Christ would shine through us to all the world so that all would know the goodness of the God who loves us in the midst of our doubts and questions. Amen.
