The Kingdom of God is at Hand

Jan. 13-19

Scripture: Luke 9:27

This week we pray for:

  • Students as they continue Jan Term classes, that they will work hard, learn well, and be transformed in mind and heart.
  • Students to know the light, love and truth of Jesus as Lord of their lives.
  • For faculty and staff as they teach, support and guide students in various ways both on campus and in study abroad programs all over the world.
  • Students, staff and faculty who may be ill during this time, that God will heal and sustain them with loving care.
  • The many U-Rec outdoor offerings throughout the winter. We pray for safety, community, joy and worshipful awe before God’s amazing creation.
  • Various events this week on campus in preparation for the observance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and legacy. We pray that God would continue to grow and transform the Whitworth community to be a community that lives into the reality of the reconciling work of Jesus Christ. We hope to be witnesses of God’s heart for justice to those near and far.
  • Jan Term Community Worship Services on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, as we gather for a time of student-led praise, prayer and testimony. We pray that God would unite us in joyful multicultural worship and that students would encounter Christ and respond in trust and obedience.
  • The annual Whitworth Board of Trustees winter gathering. We pray with gratitude for the faithful support and guidance of the Board, and we pray for ongoing wisdom, unity and provision as they continue to guide Whitworth in its mission to equip our diverse student body to honor God, follow Christ and serve humanity.

Thanksgiving:

Lord, we thank you each and every day. You know the plans for our lives when we don’t. We rest in you, knowing that you provide what is best for our lives, giving us hope and excitement for the future. Thank you for the glimpses of your Kingdom that provide us insight into our eternal destiny as citizens of a new heaven and new earth. Empower us this day to live as faithful witnesses to your Kingdom in word and deed. Amen.
