Balaam and the God Who is Worthy of Our Submission

April 29-May 6
Numbers 22-25

This week we pray for:

  • Students, staff and faculty to stand firm in their faith and beliefs and live as witnesses for Christ.
  • Students’ strength, that they will not become weary in doing good!
  • Campus worship this week:
    • Chapel Community Worship on Tuesday and Thursday as faculty, staff and students gather in worship and President Beck A. Taylor continues our series of “Reading the Bible with Jesus” on Tuesday. We also pray for Thursday’s service as we come together to sing, pray and celebrate the Lord’s Supper.
    • Tuesday night’s Hosanna service as students gather for worship through music, prayer and reflection.
    • Wednesday night’s student-led AWAKE gathering as students explore who God is, who they are and why that even matters.
    • Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s reflective Morning Prayer services.
  • Monday night’s Vida en Cristo worship service in Spanish hosted by our Spanish for Ministry students on campus, which includes music, student testimonies and fun fellowship!
  • Whitworth’s participation in the Take Back the Night program that raises awareness about sexual assault on college campuses. We pray for insight for the Whitworth community and protection for our community members.
  • The launch of the book Challenged and Changed: Living and Learning in Central America, published by professors Lindy Scott and Kim Hernandez, that chronicles the four decades of Whitworth experiences in Central America. We give thanks for the Central America Study Program and its founders, Ron and Marianne Frase, who will also be present at the book launch. We pray for continued fruitful ministry and transformation through the CASP program.
  • Saturday’s Springfest celebration hosted by ASWU that invites Whitworth and the local community to a joyous day filled with fun, inflatables, food trucks and more.
  • The many music concerts and recitals occurring over these last few weekends of the year. We pray that God would give students strength and peace in their preparations and that he would continue to equip them to use their gifts for his glory and good work in the world.
  • Prospective traditional undergraduate students and their families who are making their decisions for the May 1 deposit deadline. We pray for wisdom for those students and families as well as provision for Whitworth, that God would send to Whitworth the students whom he wants to be transformed here in the years ahead.

Thanksgiving:

Lord forgive us for the times that we have been rebellious. Teach us to obey you no matter what other voices and authorities call for our obedience. Make us your light in a dark world through Jesus. Give us eyes to see and ears to hear those around us who need your Gospel truth. We are thankful and grateful for your great love and tender mercy toward us as you lead us forward in Christ by the power of your Spirit. Amen.
