“Lady Wisdom and the God of Wisdom”

April 1-April 8
Proverbs 8 and 31

This week we pray for:

  • God to be at work drawing every Whitworth community member to Him wherever they are on their journey of faith.
  • Students as they return from Spring Break, that they will be refreshed, renewed and ready to engage in the good work that God has prepared for them in both curricular and extracurricular activities in the second half of this semester.
  • Campus worship this week:
    • Chapel Community Worship on Tuesday and Thursday as faculty, staff and students gather in worship, and as Campus Pastor Lauren Taylor continues our series “Reading the Bible with Jesus” by looking at various lesser-known Old Testament stories on Tuesday. We also pray for Thursday’s service as we come together to sing, pray and celebrate the Lord’s Supper.
    • Tuesday night’s Hosanna service as students gather for worship through music, prayer and reflection.
    • Wednesday night’s student-led AWAKE gathering as students explore who God is, who they are and why that even matters.
    • Monday, Wednesday and Friday reflective Morning Prayer services.
  • Father Brian Kolodiejchuk, author of Mother Teresa: Come Be My Light, as he visits campus on Tuesday, April 7. We particularly pray for Father Brian’s evening lecture “Mother Teresa’s Business Card: Spiritual Values in a Commercial World.”
  • The “Women Ever Rising Every Day to Lead Conference,” a women’s gathering hosted by Stephaine Nobles Beans, Lauren Taylor and a number of student leaders, on Saturday morning in the Chapel. We pray for a rich time of communion with God and with each other as women from Whitworth and the Spokane community come together to worship God and look at six women of Scripture together.
  • Sunday and Monday’s Bucs Bound admitted student weekend and the hundreds of admitted students and family members who will be on campus. We pray for peace for the students and families and for God’s provision as they make college decisions. We also pray that God would provide the students that Whitworth needs for the incoming 2019 class.

Thanksgiving:

Living God, we thank you that you are the God of wisdom and that you are the source of wisdom. Thank you that rightly fearing you results in wisdom. We pray for wisdom today, for us, for Whitworth, for our leaders, for our country, for our world. We pray that you would give us ears to hear Lady Wisdom calling out to us today by your Spirit and that we would value her words more than the material treasures of this earth. We pray this in the name of the Word who is the Truth, Amen.
