Making All Things New

Jan. 7- Jan. 13
Scripture: John 13:34-35 – “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another”

This week we pray for:

  • Our students, faculty, staff and administrators as we enter into a new year, that the whole Whitworth community (individually and corporately) would take steps of faith and obedience this year by God’s grace.
  • Students and faculty who are still traveling with off-campus study programs, for safety, rich learning, fun, formation and community.
  • Students to make wise and healthy decisions in their time management, studies and relationships during this Jan Term.
  • Whitworth winter season athletes who return to competition this week. We pray for character development, growth into the men and women God made them to be, love for one another, and joy as they work hard and compete together.
  • Jan Term Morning Prayer, as students, staff and faculty join Christians around the world in lifting up their hearts to the Lord on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays of Jan Term from 8:30 a.m.-8:50 a.m. through Scripture, silence, prayer and song.
  • Jan Term Chapel Community Worship on Tuesday and Thursday evenings as we gather for worship, testimony, prayer and community. We pray that students would know the God who is “making all things new” in Jesus Christ and that they would step boldly into the newness that God has for them in every area of their lives.

Loving Father God we thank you that while your Son, Jesus, was here on earth, even He was doing a new thing!  We are so grateful that He was teaching believers a new way of living, a new commandment, a new covenant: to love as we have been loved.  May we continue the legacy that He left to us by the power of his Spirit this day and this week. Amen.
