Immanuel, “God with us!”

Dec. 17-Jan. 6
Scripture: Matthew 23:22 – The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him “Immanuel, which means “God with us.”

This week we pray for:

  • Students over Christmas Break, for rest, rejuvenation, meaningful relationships and growth in Christ, wherever they spend this time.
  • Staff and faculty, for a rich and refreshing season of celebrating the birth of Christ and welcoming a new year.
  • Staff who will be keeping essential services running on campus over break, for strength, joy and an awareness of God’s presence in their humble service.
  • All of our mid-year graduates as they complete their season of study at Whitworth. We pray for God’s protection and guidance for them to live to honor God, follow Christ and serve humanity in the next season of life and beyond.
  • Safety for those community members traveling for break and returning for classes to begin on Jan. 3.
  • Jan Term trips off campus in central Washington, New York, Washington D.C., the southern U.S., Hawaii and various European locations. We pray for safety, meaningful community, encounters with God and transformational learning as God shapes these students in unfamiliar places.
  • Those who will be taking and teaching Jan Term classes, for a great month of learning, community and growth into the men and women God made them to be.

Thanksgiving:

Lord we thank you that through your son, “Immanuel,” you are with us. Thank you for the gift of the fresh start of a new year that reminds us of your promise to make all things new in Christ. Lead us in your way of love this Christmas season. Amen.
