Christmas Candlelight Service

Dec. 10-Dec. 17
John 1:5

This week we pray for:

  • Students, for wisdom, strength and rich learning as they prepare for and take final exams this week.
  • Students’ travel for the Christmas holidays, and that they will find rest and enjoyment with family and friends.
  • Faculty as they grade final exams and projects while completing their other responsibilities for the semester, for strength, wisdom and joy.
  • The wonderful Sodexo staff as they complete their semester of serving our community through their excellent, faithful and joyful offering of thousands of meals each day.
  • This semester’s last week of reflective Morning Prayer services.
  • Monday’s Christmas Candlelight Service as we celebrate the joy of Jesus’ birth with the Whitworth community in Scripture, prayer, song and communion.
  • The Longest Night Service of worship, lament, prayer and hope. We pray for all of those for whom the Christmas season brings feelings of loss, pain and grief, that they would know God’s loving and powerful presence in this time.

Thanksgiving:

Living God, in a world where worry, not peace, prevails, stir up in us the good news again.  We need your joy and peace today. Thank you for the gift of Jesus, our Immanuel, the light of the world. Lead us to walk in the light of Christ, that we might share his light and love with all whom we interact. May your light increase this Advent season. Amen.
