Good Works

May 21-Aug. 26

This will be the last On Bended Knee entry of the 2017-18 academic year. Thank you for your faithful prayer and support for Whitworth! The prayers of God’s people all over the world for Whitworth are a priceless gift.

Scripture: Colossians 3:17 – And whatever you do in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father through him.

This week we pray for:

  • Students as they go various directions for the summer. We pray for safety, refreshment, wise choices, growth in Christ, enriching relationships and fun.
  • Monday’s Provost Breakfast for faculty and lecturers to celebrate the completed academic year and recognize faculty, as well as hear final words from our retiring faculty.
  • Monday’s End of Year Celebration and Worship Service as we celebrate the end of the academic year, thanking and honoring those who are retiring from Whitworth.
  • May Term study-away classes, Peace and Conflict in Ireland and International Business Abroad in China. We pray for rich times of learning for students, wonderful community, sustenance for professors, and growth in God’s heart for the world.
  • Grounds, trades and facilities staff as they enter into one of their busiest seasons of the year – summer. We pray for safety, community, work that is worship, and strength through the summer.
  • All Whitworth employees as we enter into the different rhythms of summer work, for wisdom, diligence, sustenance, contentment and productivity in all that God is calling each of us to do.
  • The 70-plus Office of Church Engagement Ministry Fellows who are going to serve at churches and ministry sites all over the Pacific Northwest and the world this summer. We pray for great connections with the ministries, perseverance, and eyes to see what God is doing and how they can join him in that work.

Thanksgiving:
Lord, we are thankful that you have given us hands to do good work. Help us look to you to lead and guide us to do the responsibilities that you have entrusted to us. We are grateful and humbled that you would invite us to participate in your good work in the world and surrender ourselves afresh to do your bidding. Amen.
