Judgment, Wrath and Salvation

April 30-May 6

Revelation 15:1-8, 19:11-16

This week we pray for:

  • Students, for perseverance as they move toward the end of the semester and, for graduating seniors, the end of their careers at Whitworth.
  • Whitworth students who are performing in music recitals this week, for peace and joy in the process.
  • The counseling center and health center staff as they care for students’ health and well-being. We give thanks for them and pray for God’s blessing on their work.
  • Student-athletes as they complete spring practices and competitions in various sports, that they will continue to grow in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and people through their participation.
  • For campus worship this week:
    • Chapel Community Worship on Tuesday and Thursday as faculty, staff and students gather in worship and as Forrest Buckner preaches in our series on Revelation on Tuesday. We also pray for Thursday’s service as we come together to worship God and to celebrate Communion together.
    • Tuesday night’s student-led Hosanna service, as students gather for worship through music, prayer and reflection.
    • Wednesday night’s student-led AWAKE gathering, as students explore who God is, who they are, and why that even matters.
    • Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s reflective Morning Prayer services.
  • Springfest, an ASWU-hosted event for students, faculty and family to join together for community fun in the spring sun before the final two weeks of the semester.

Thanksgiving:
O Lord God, sovereign and true, we thank you that you will not allow sin and rebellion to remain forever. We praise you because you are the great Judge of all the earth, and you will always do right. We praise you that knowing that we ourselves deserve to fall under your judgment, you instead extend to us your endless mercy in Jesus Christ. Amen.
