Spring Break – God’s Rest

March 26-April 1

Hebrews 4:3: For we who have believed enter into God’s rest.

This week we pray:

  • With gratitude for this Holy Week in which we remember Jesus’ suffering in our place and on our behalf. We pray for a renewed awe at the gift of God’s grace revealed in Christ and at the miracle of the resurrection. We pray for the entire Whitworth University community to know the power of the resurrection of Jesus and be transformed by his Spirit to serve God in word and deed.
  • For all the students staying on campus during Spring Break. We pray that they would find rest where they are weary and restoration where they need renewed energies to return to their studies and other activities.
  • For safety for the students who are traveling away from the Whitworth campus. We pray for community, joy, love for others, abiding in Christ, and rich memories with God and friends.
  • For the Whitworth forensics team that is competing in and hosting the nearly 400 students participating in the International Public Debate Association National Tournament at Whitworth this week. We pray that all of the guests would feel welcome and get glimpses of God’s goodness in their time at Whitworth. We also pray for the Whitworth team, that they could give their all and grow further into the men and women God made them to be.
  • For the nearly 100 Whitworth students serving at the annual Young Life Work Week at Washington Family Ranch in central Oregon with 200 other students from Pacific Northwest universities. We pray for all of the students to grow closer with Jesus and in community through the experience and for the seeds from camp to find fertile and protected soil as they finish up at camp Tuesday and move on to other spring break activities.
  • For faculty to find refreshment, renewal and time to catch up during spring break.
  • For student-athletes competing all over the country this week, that they will bear witness to the love of Christ and grow as men and women as they compete and travel.

Thanksgiving:
Father God, we praise you for a new season! All around us is evidence, of not only your existence, but that you are a good God. You are the creator of all we can see, and of what we cannot see. Even in an urban world we are immersed in the beauty of your creation. We love you and bless you. Your kindness is felt and needed. We are grateful for you and for our promised salvation through your Son, Jesus Christ. Lord, we are amazed by you.
