Growing with God

Jan. 8-14

Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
– 2 Peter 3:1

This week we pray for:

  • Our students, faculty, staff and administrators as we enter into a new year, that the whole Whitworth community (individually and corporately) would take steps of faith and obedience this year by God’s grace.
  • Grounds and facilities staff who labor to keep campus safe and operable during the cold and snowy winter months, for strength, joy and an awareness of God’s presence in their work.
  • Various discussions and events this week on campus in preparation for the observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and legacy. We pray that God would continue to grow and transform the Whitworth community to be one that lives in the reality of the reconciling work of Jesus Christ and witnesses to God’s heart for justice to those near and far.
  • Students and faculty who are traveling on off-campus study programs, for safety, rich learning, fun, formation and community.
  • Students to make wise decisions in studies, relationships and time.
  • Students, staff and faculty to be bold, humble and winsome witnesses to the good news of Jesus Christ in word and deed.
  • Jan Term Community Worship on Tuesday and Thursday evening as we gather for worship, testimony (on Tuesday), and the Lord’s Supper (on Thursday). We pray that students would be hungry to “Grow with God” as we highlight different ways we can do so at each service.

Thanksgiving:
Almighty God, as we enter a new year and a new season, please grow us closer to you. Inspire us and strengthen us to make choices to avail ourselves to your transforming grace. Make us people who more and more wholeheartedly love you and love others. Grow us up in you, Lord. Amen.
