Christmas Candlelight Service: “Immanuel: God With Us”

Dec. 11-Jan. 2

*Note: On Bended Knee will resume on Jan. 3, 2018

This week we pray for:

  • Students as they take final exams this week, for strength and focus to finish well and keep learning well.
  • Students over Christmas Break. We pray for safety in travels, enriching rest, and wonderful time with family and friends. We also pray that they could continue to move forward in who God has made them to be as they step out of the Whitworth rhythm.
  • Students who are not able to go home over break and for students for whom going home feels overwhelming or stressful. We pray for God’s provision, protection and peace.
  • Monday’s annual Christmas Candlelight service as the Whitworth community joins to celebrate the joy of Jesus’ birth in Scripture, prayer and song.
  • Tuesday’s Longest Night service as students come together for a reflective prayer and worship service of lament and hope, particularly for those who are mourning in this Christmas season.
  • Faculty as they administer finals and complete their grading for the semester, that they would know God’s strength and joy in their work.
  • Staff and faculty who are making final preparations for the various Jan Term study options that will occur just after the new year.
  • Staff and faculty to have a wonderful Christmas and new year, that they would enjoy sweet communion with God and connection with loved ones. We pray with gratitude for their service to God in Christ here at Whitworth.

Lord, we thank you that through your Son, “Immanuel,” you are with us. Thank you for the miracle of the Word made flesh. You tell us that you will never leave us nor forsake us, that you are with us always; for this Lord we are so thankful. May we walk in the light of Christ this Christmas season and always. Amen.
