I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life

Nov. 20-26

Scripture:
John 14:1-7

This week we pray:

  • For safe travels over the Thanksgiving holiday.
  • For students to experience rest, rejuvenation and good connections with family and friends during the holidays.
  • For students who are not able to go home for Thanksgiving. We pray that they would find a place of belonging during this break and know God’s gracious love for them.
  • For staff who will be keeping the campus safe and running over this Thanksgiving week, that they would find strength, peace and contentment as they serve God by serving in their role at Whitworth.
  • For student-athletes as winter sports teams travel and compete. We pray for safety, God-centered hard work, humility, community, growth as well-rounded men and women, and development in their journeys of faith.
  • For Campus Worship this week:
    • Tuesday’s Chapel Community Worship as Forrest Buckner preaches in our series, “God Made Known: Jesus’ I AM statements in the Gospel of John”
    • Monday’s reflective Morning Prayer services.
  • With thanksgiving for God’s provision for and blessing of Whitworth University for the past 128 years, providing for the Christ-centered education of mind and heart to thousands of students over the years.

Thanksgiving:
Lord, our world is hurting and broken. Particularly in this Thanksgiving week and holiday season, we pray for those who have lost loved ones. Please comfort them in their grief and loss, cover them with your peace and presence, as only your Spirit can do. Thank you that in the midst of the myriad paths we face in life and in the face of challenges, You are the Way, the Truth and the Life. Thank you that you remind us throughout your Word, we do not face the storms alone, but you are always with us. We confess our need for you. We ask you to forgive us for trying to figure everything out on our own, for not trusting that you are more than able and powerful to work on our behalf. Forgive us for picking back up what we already determined to lay down at your feet. Give us the ability to trust you more, give us a heart that finds rest in your presence, give us the wisdom to seek peace and pursue it, remembering it’s only to be found in you alone, because you are the great I AM. Amen.
