I AM (The source and fulfillment of God’s promise to Abe)

Nov. 6-12

John 8:54-58

This week we pray for:

  • Faculty as they continue to invite their students into a mind-and-heart education. We pray for wisdom, perseverance, care, creativity, and winsome witness to God’s goodness as they integrate faith and learning inside and outside the classroom.
  • Students who are having financial struggles, that their needs will be met and they may be reassured of God’s faithful provision.
  • Music students who are sharing their senior recitals and concerts, that they could know God’s peace and joy as they share the fruit of much labor in their disciplines.
  • Student-athletes as fall sports teams complete their seasons and winter sports begin their competition schedules. We pray for safety, community, enjoyment and growth into the people whom God made them to be.
  • Campus Worship this week:
    • Tuesday’s Chapel Community Worship as Forrest Buckner preaches in our series, “God Made Known: Jesus’ I AM statements in the Gospel of John”
    • Tuesday night’s student-led Hosanna worship gathering
    • Wednesday night’s student-led AWAKE ministry gathering
    • Thursday’s Chapel Community Worship gathering for music and the Lord’s Supper
    • Monday, Wednesday and Friday reflective Morning Prayer services.
  • The Annual Pirate Night dinner and auction, that God would provide financially for the needs of Whitworth Athletics and bless the gathering with a sense of community.
  • All of the veterans in the Whitworth community and Whitworth extended family as we gather for Friday’s Veterans Day Service, remembering the men and women who have served in our armed forces and those who sacrificed their lives and fought for our country to keep us free.
  • Staff members as they gather for the second President’s Coffee with President Taylor, joining for community, a university update and celebration of individual employees’ years of service.
  • Students who are presenting at the Murdoch College Science Conference co-hosted by Whitworth and Gonzaga, that they would learn and grow through the experience and be further equipped to use their knowledge for the common good.

Lord, we are thankful that you are the “I AM” and as you have known the Father, help us to know the Father also in our walk with you. Open our eyes that we may see who we are as children of the Most High and live as your light-bearers in the world. Thank you for your faithfulness to your covenant promises from the beginning of time all the way to today.
