I AM the Good Shepherd

Oct. 30-Nov. 5

Scripture:
John 10:11-18

This week we pray for:

  • Students as they return from Fall Break, that they will be refreshed and energized, ready to enter this challenging time of the academic year, as daylight hours decrease and the pace of academic life does not.
  • Campus Worship this week:
    • Tuesday’s Chapel Community Worship as President Beck A. Taylor preaches in our series, “God Made Known: Jesus’ I AM statements in the Gospel of John”
    • Tuesday night’s student-led Hosanna worship gathering
    • Wednesday night’s student-led AWAKE ministry gathering
    • Thursday’s Chapel Community Worship gathering for music and the Lord’s Supper
    • Monday, Wednesday and Friday reflective Morning Prayer services.
  • Whitworth’s jazz musicians as they share in performing with legendary jazz pianist Ellis Marsalis at the 29th annual Whitworth Guest Artist Jazz Concert. We pray that these students could find true wonder and gratitude to God in the experience.
  • Students who are discerning their majors and talking with advisors at Wednesday’s Majors Fair. We pray for students to have courage to say “yes” and “no” with wisdom and peace.
  • Students who are discerning the possibility of further theological education at Thursday’s Seminary Fair, as seminary, theological and graduate school representatives from across the country make themselves available.

Thanksgiving:
Lord, thank you for being our Good Shepherd. Because of your great love for us, transform us in such a way that we could follow you, care for all who are close to us, fight to protect those who are threatened, welcome those who are rejected, forgive those who are burdened by guilt, comfort those who are sick, share with those who have little or nothing, take the time to really know one another, and love as you have loved us.
