I AM the Gate for the Sheep

Oct. 23-29

John 10:7-10

This week we pray for:

  • Students who may be struggling to keep up with their academic or co-curricular responsibilities. We pray for wisdom, strength and the ability to say “no” to the right things.
  • Students as they finish this week of classes and head into Fall Break, that they will be refreshed with family and friends. We pray for safe travel for those traveling and for joyful rest for all.
  • Faculty as they use Friday’s Fall Break day off for students to engage in Faculty Development Day, engaging in intentional training and discussion around how to be the best-possible academic (and holistic) advisors to students.
  • Student-athletes, for safe travel, meaningful community and character development as they give their all in their athletic endeavors.
  • Monday’s Inclusive University Classroom Lecture delivered by Chief Diversity Officer Lorna Hernandez Jarvis on “Inclusive Excellence, Intercultural intelligence, and the Status of Diversity Education.” We pray that the annual lecture would help educators and community members grow in creating environments in which academic excellence is inclusive and transformative for every student.
  • President Beck A. Taylor’s Cabinet as members provide collaborative leadership and oversight of Whitworth toward the end that every Whitworth student could receive an education of mind and heart while growing in honoring God, following Christ and serving humanity.
  • For Campus Worship this week:
    • Tuesday’s Chapel Community Worship as Stephaine Nobles-Beans preaches in our series, “God Made Known: Jesus’ I AM statements in the Gospel of John”
    • Tuesday night’s student-led Hosanna worship gathering
    • Wednesday night’s student-led AWAKE ministry gathering
    • Thursday’s Chapel Community Worship gathering for music and the Lord’s Supper
    • Monday, Wednesday and Friday reflective Morning Prayer services.

Lord, thank you for standing patiently at the door of our heart. Help us to answer you, to love you and to know you better. We are grateful for your faithful presence. Help us to continue to say yes to all you ask of us and grow us to walk with you and witness to your goodness, love and power in all we do and say.
