Good Works

Thank you for faithfully supporting the Whitworth community this year through your prayers. God has been faithful in answering those prayers in myriad ways through this year. This is our final On Bended Knee for the 2016-17 academic year. We’ll resume at the end of August, and we look forward to our partnership in ministry again next year!

May 22-Aug. 27

Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father through him.

This week we pray for…

  • the members of the Class of 2017. We ask that they would know God’s guidance, provision, love, and faithful presence on their journey ahead.
  • the end-of-the-year celebration and worship service on Monday, May 22, as Whitworth staff and faculty gather in gratitude to worship God, to enjoy fellowship, and to recognize the faithful service of our retirees.
  • our students to have a wonderful and safe summer, finding refreshment, joy, and continued growth as they become the men and women God made them to be.
  • President Beck A. Taylor, administrators, faculty, and staff; we pray that each will find some time of rejuvenation in the different rhythms of the summer season.
  • staff members whose busiest time of the year comes during the summer. We ask that they will feel a sense of strength and purpose in their meaningful work.
  • the 52 Whitworth students who will serve in churches throughout the Northwest U.S. and in Scotland as Ekklesia Fellows this summer through the Whitworth Office of Church Engagement. We ask that God would use them in mighty ways and would also foster their love for God, their love for the church, and their understanding of their calling.
  • prospective students who are considering attending Whitworth. We ask that God would lead them and provide for them as they make this very important decision.
  • incoming freshmen and transfers who will attend Whitworth in the fall. We pray that God would prepare them for all that is in store for them in their time at Whitworth, and we ask that God would provide peace for their families and loved ones as they prepare for this change in their lives.

Living God, thank you for your provision and blessing through this year. You always provide just what we need. We are also thankful that you have given us hands to do good works. Help us rely on you to lead and guide us to do the responsibilities that you have entrusted to us. We are grateful and humbled that you would call us to be participants with you in the work of Jesus in this world by the power of the Holy Spirit.
