Our True End

May 8-14, 2017

Scripture:
Psalms 145

This week we pray for…

  • students who are finishing the last week of spring classes and preparing for final exams; we ask for strength, joy, perseverance and growth for each of them.
  • Tuesday’s On Mission presentation, hosted by the Whitworth Office of Church Engagement; Middle Eastern missionary and church leader Khalaf will talk about Arab churches sending church planters throughout the Arab world and will explore how American churches can partner with them and learn from their example.
  • continued wisdom, encouragement and understanding for President Taylor and the members of his cabinet as they lead, guide and steward the university.
  • Whitworth staff as they continue to provide support throughout the university.
  • Whitworth faculty as they finish their teaching for the semester. We ask that they will model strength, wisdom, passion for their material and love for their students.
  • campus worship: We pray with thanksgiving for all the student leaders who have faithfully served in campus ministry this year, and particularly for the seniors who are completing their time here. We give thanks for the good work God has done in and through them, and we pray for God’s leading as they continue to move forward in service to Him in the years ahead.
  • Tuesday’s Chapel Community Worship as Forrest Buckner finishes our semester’s series, Encountering Jesus in the Psalms: Living Honestly with God. We pray that God would be honored in this worshiping community and that more and more students would desire to gather in worship together. We also pray for Tuesday’s student-led Hosanna worship event; for Wednesday’s student-led AWAKE ministry gathering; for Thursday’s final Chapel Community Worship gathering for music and communion outside in The Loop; for a wonderful final celebration of God that brings together the campus community and welcomes in new faces, even on this last day; and for our reflective morning-prayer services on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Thanksgiving:
Merciful God, we praise you, and we are deeply thankful for the unfailing love you have disclosed to us, generation after generation. We thank you for the compassion you shower upon us, day after day. You alone are our God. We are your people. We pray that your Holy Spirit will continue to move among us as we worship and follow you. Open our hearts and our minds to see you at work among us, encouraging, challenging, uplifting, and inspiring as each has need. May our worship bring you honor and glory so that all the earth may join in the chorus of praise in word and deed. Amen.
