The Lord Reigns

Feb. 13-19

Scripture:
Psalms 46

This week we pray for…

  • students who face challenges; we ask that every need will be met – financially, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
  • unity and courage among our students; we pray that members of the Whitworth student body might embody a countercultural ability to speak with and respect one another across various dimensions of difference.
  • Tuesday’s On Mission lecture, sponsored by the Whitworth Office of Church Engagement. We ask that the missionary speaker from India would provide inspiration and encouragement for church members in Spokane to join God’s mission here.
  • Whitworth Outdoor Recreation department. We appreciate the many opportunities this office provides our students for community, for safe outings, to view and enjoy the awesomeness of God’s creation, and for good adventures together.
  • our faculty members to be strengthened in their teaching, especially through our Teaching Roundtable presentations and through discussions that focus on innovative teaching methods to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Whitworth Campus Worship:
    • Tuesday Community Worship, as Campus Pastor Mindy Smith teaches in our series, “Encountering Jesus in the Psalms: Living Honestly with God”
    • Tuesday’s student-led Hosanna worship event
    • Wednesday’s student-led AWAKE ministry gathering
    • Thursday Community Worship gathering for music and communion.
    • Morning prayer, as students, faculty and staff begin the day on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays with Scripture, silence, prayer and song.

Thanksgiving:
Lord, thank you for being our refuge and our strength when trouble is everpresent. We are grateful that you are with us and that we need not fear. When nations are in uproar, when kingdoms fall, your voice lifts us up and we are secure. It is good that when we are still, we know that you are our God. We praise you for being our fortress — for you, oh Lord, reign!
