Restoration for the Outsider

Nov. 28-Dec. 4

Luke 8:40-56

This week we pray for…

  • students returning from Thanksgiving Break. We ask that they will feel refreshed and ready to engage with their responsibilities at Whitworth through the end of the semester.
  • students who are struggling in class. We ask that they will find the help that they need by turning to God, by finding inner strength, and by accessing the many support options at Whitworth.
  • a quick return to good health for students, staff, and faculty who are ill.
  • our campus worship programs: Tuesday’s Chapel Community Worship, with Mindy Smith preaching on Tuesday and our celebration of the Lord’s Supper on Thursday; Hosanna on Tuesday night; and AWAKE on Wednesday night. We ask that this community would continue to look to Jesus together and draw closer to God by the power of the Spirit.
  • the Whitworth Choir Christmas Festival concerts, with the theme Gloria, in Seattle and Bellevue. We pray for wonder, joy and worship of the Light of the World for all those involved in these beautiful concerts.
  • peace, discernment and confidence in God for prospective students and their families as they consider Whitworth.

Lord, we have wasted much time in life pursuing the wrong, temporal things while neglecting what is eternal and lasting.

We ask your forgiveness and pray that in your grace you would restore to us the years that the locusts have eaten – the years that we have foolishly wasted.

Thank you for letting your Holy Spirit live and work through us. Restore to us heavenly joy and inner peace, and help us to focus on the eternal rather than the temporal. From this day forward, empower us day by day to live our lives as you would have us live them. In Jesus name we pray.
