The Twelve Sent: Participating in the Mission of Jesus

Oct. 17-23, 2016

Luke 9:1-6

This week we pray for…

  • our students, as they learn to manage their time between academics, extracurricular involvement and friendships; we ask that students’ leadership gifts might grow and develop and that they may use them to the fullest for God’s glory and purposes in this world.
  • our student athletes to play with all their ability and live the lives to which God is calling them.
  • campus worship programs: Chapel Community Worship, as Whitworth President Beck A. Taylor preaches on Tuesday and we celebrate the Lord’s Supper together on Thursday; Hosanna, on Tuesday night; and AWAKE, on Wednesday night.
  • Teaching Roundtable discussions, in which teachers present and discuss innovative methods to enhance teaching and learning in or to offer the mind-and-heart education that Whitworth students seek.
  • the dedicated staff in the Whitworth Intercultural Student Center, including David Garcia, the assistant dean for diversity, equity & inclusion, as he and his team continue to provide leadership for Whitworth’s efforts to help every student belong, and flourish, at Whitworth.

Lord, thank you for having a servant’s heart. May we, too, have the submissive hearts to do your will and serve well. Reveal your spiritual gifts in us that they may be used for your glory. Cause our hands and feet to minister to the least of these. We pray that you will reveal your purpose for our lives that we could joyfully participate in your ongoing Kingdom work by the power of the Spirit.
