Theme: The Widow’s Son: Rescuing the Vulnerable

Sept. 26-Oct. 2

Luke 7:11-17

This week we pray for…

  • our students to be encouraged to study even in difficult times. We ask that they would know God’s empowering grace to work with all their hearts at the tasks given to them.
  • students from traditionally underrepresented racial and ethnic populations to would find belonging and community at Whitworth. We pray for the work of the office of diversity, equity and inclusion as its team of staff and students works to make Whitworth a place where all students can flourish.
  • campus-worship programs: Chapel Community Worship as Campus Pastor Mindy Smith preaches on Tuesday and we celebrate the Lord’s Supper together on Thursday; Hosanna on Tuesday night; and AWAKE on Wednesday night.
  • Wednesday’s Fall Volunteer Fair, where students, faculty and staff learn about opportunities to serve in the Spokane community through a variety of local organizations.
  • the Barnes & Noble employees who quietly and consistently serve our students in the campus bookstore in the HUB.

Lord, thank you for being a father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, a healer to the sick. Thank you for loving us and never leaving us or forsaking us in times of trouble. For you are our comfort and our strength. Surround us with your grace and peace. Fill us with the hope of your salvation in all of its fullness. Amen.
