Eating with Tax Collectors: Calling the Sick

Sept. 19-25

Scripture:
Luke 5:27-32

This week we pray for…

  • our students as they settle into the rhythm of classes. We ask for learning and discovery that forms them as whole persons with a love for God and others.
  • campus worship programs: community worship as Dean of Spiritual Life Forrest Buckner preaches on Tuesday; our celebration of the Lord’s Supper together on Thursday; and our time together at Hosanna, on Tuesday night, and at AWAKE, on Wednesday night.
  • Community Building Day, on Wednesday, as more than 1,000 Whitworth faculty, staff, students and alumni engage in community-service activities with 42 agencies at 54 service sites across the region, providing an economic impact of more than $110,000 throughout Spokane County. We pray for safety, fun, community, and helpful service for those serving. And we ask for encouragement, strength and provision for the many incredible service agencies in Spokane.
  • our student athletes as they travel and compete. We ask that they will find proper perspective, will connect in community, and will grow with Christ through their practices and competitions.
  • the team from Whitworth Admissions as they share the vision of the university and invite students to be part of the classes of 2021 and beyond. We pray particularly for the “Why Whitworth” days that admissions presents regularly on Fridays throughout the year, as prospective students and their families visit campus.
  • our delightful Sodexo food-service staff, including their managers on campus, Jim O’Brien and Dan King, who quietly and consistently serve Whitworth through their joyful and excellent food service.

Thanksgiving:
Thank you, Lord Jesus, for coming to seek and save the lost. Thank you that though we were lost, you have found us. Give us eyes to see others as you see them and extend to others the love of Jesus in word and deed. AMEN
