Trusting In the Lord

Jan. 18-24

Scripture:
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

This week we pray for…

  • our students as they near the end of Jan Term; we ask that they will complete their assignments and prepare well for their exams.
  • students who will be returning from Jan Term travels as well as new students who will arrive for spring semester.
  • students, faculty and staff who may be ill; we ask that all recover fully.
  • wisdom and guidance for the Whitworth University Board of Trustees and the President’s Cabinet as they gather this week for their regular winter meeting.
  • safe travels as our athletics teams compete with regional rivals; we ask that our student-athletes will continue to show great sportsmanship and to grow as individuals and in community.
  • our community’s celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr., as we remember and reflect upon King’s important legacy through a variety of events through the week.
  • faculty and staff as they prepare for the spring semester with returning and new students.
  • our grounds crew, as its members continue to keep our campus safe and looking beautiful during the winter season.
  • Wednesday evening’s final Jan Term campus worship, a student-led service of singing, prayer, Scripture, and reflection followed by a fun time for community building. The theme this week is “Costly Love for Neighbors in the Footsteps of Christ.”
  • Whitworth’s Student Symposium Lecture, which features independent scholarly research from the best and brightest Whitworth students.

Thanksgiving:
Lord, help us to continue to trust in you. Rather than indulge our tendency to lean to our own understanding, please allow us to realize that, in acknowledging you, we will always see our path made straight. We depend on you for all our daily needs, and we are most thankful for your love and care.
