We Believe in ….the Forgiveness of Sins

Scripture:
Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.
Luke 23:34

This week we pray for…

  • our community. The last few days before Thanksgiving break are a hectic time for everyone, as staff members finish up first-semester projects and work to prepare the facilities for the coming winter; students finish midterm exams and submit papers; and faculty press on with the tasks of teaching, grading and mentoring. May the members of our community extend grace to one other during this week, and may we all know the strength to persevere and serve with energy and enthusiasm.
  • safety for all Whitworthians as our students, faculty and staff travel during the Thanksgiving holidays to spending time with family and friends.
  • Michael Sardinia (Biology) at Monday’s Faculty Scholarship Forum as he presents “Dihexa –a possible drug treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.”
  • Associate Chaplain Mindy Smith as she shares with us Tuesday in Community Chapel from the Apostles’ Creed, on The Forgiveness of Sins.
  • all who worship together. Ask that they be filled with a profound sense of gratitude for the amazing grace of God’s remission of our sins through the sacrifice of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
  • Goal 6.3 of the Courage at the Crossroads 2011-21 vision and strategic plan, as Whitworth develops additional online-education possibilities integrated with face-to-face instruction in order to reach broader, underserved markets in the region.

Thanksgiving:
Lord, we are so thankful for the forgiveness of our sins. Thank you for your mercy and your constant love. We recognize our faults, and we are conscious of our sins. But because of your loving kindness and your great mercy, you are in the process of making us whole again. May we be filled with an “attitude of gratitude” for your endless grace during this Thanksgiving week and always. In Jesus’ name, amen.
