Waiting with Patience

Oct. 22-28

Scripture:
Romans 8:25
But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

This week we pray for…

  • students who may be going through difficult times. We ask that they will remain focused and motivated in the time of trials, and we pray that their confidence in God’s presence will not be shaken.
  • the Faculty Teaching Roundtable, which will continue, on Oct. 22, to discuss innovative teaching methods to enhance the learning process.
  • Tuesday chapel, as Dean of Spiritual Life Terry McGonigal preaches from Romans 8 on the renewal of all creation through God’s spirit; and Thursday’s service of communion, singing and reflection.
  • Faculty Development Day, on Friday, Oct. 25, as the faculty discusses the sustainability of the Core program, one of the academic anchors of our curriculum for decades.
  • students and faculty on Fall Break, Oct. 26-29. Everyone in our community needs rest and renewal, and we ask for safety for all who will travel this weekend to be with friends and families.
  • Initiative 2.2 of the Courage at the Crossroads 2011-12 Vision and Strategic Plan, as Whitworth develops and implements over time a vision for 21st-century teaching and learning that enhances academic rigor and educational outcomes.

Thanksgiving:
Gracious Redeemer, Romans 8 assures us of your ongoing work of saving and restoring and sustaining not only us but all creation. Thank you for your faithfulness to complete everything you began in creation and continue in Jesus Christ. We rest in the assurance that “nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:39 NRSV).
