Thanks for God’s Grace

Oct. 15-21

Colossians 1:2
Grace and peace to you from God our Father.

This week we pray for…

  • healthy relationships among our students as they seek to be aware of the presence of God in their daily lives.
  • all of our students as they begin midterm papers and exams. We ask that fear and worry will not overshadow their learning.
  • Campus Pastor Mindy Smith as she preaches Tuesday morning from Colossians 1:15-20. We pray, too, for the evening Hosanna service led by our students.
  • the President’s Leadership Forum Oct. 16 at the Spokane Convention Center, as Pulitzer Prize-winning political columnist George F. Will, at the invitation of Whitworth President Beck A. Taylor, shares his insights on the current political climate in our country.
  • our theatre and music students as they present our fall theater production, Honk! The Musical Tale of “The Ugly Duckling,” at the Bing Crosby Theater downtown. The play opens Oct. 18.
  • Parents’ Weekend, Oct. 19-21, when parents visit their students and join in the Whitworth experience by taking in a class and hearing President Beck Taylor preach on Sunday morning.
  • Initiative 2.1 of Whitworth’s Courage at the Crossroads 2011-21 Vision and Strategic Plan. Pray for the university as it seeks to strengthen student-faculty interaction and the rich learning that occurs in the contexts of community and relationship.

We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints, because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. (Colossians 1:3-5 NRSV)
