I Shall Not Be Afraid…

April 23-29

Scripture:
Psalm 27:1 (NIV)
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Prayer:

  • Pray for students who are nearing the graduation finish line. Pray that they will feel clear direction and wisdom regarding their future.
  • Pray as students stand firm in their faith and beliefs, and ask that they will be witnesses for others.
  • Pray for students’ strength; ask that they will not become weary and pray that they will remember that all things work together for good.
  • Pray that students find support through mentors, teachers, family and friends as they move forward at Whitworth and in life.
  • Pray that students will be equipped, encouraged and empowered as they meet challenges in their everyday lives.
  • Pray as we gather in the chapel for community worship on April 24, as President Beck Taylor shares the message, “Feeding the 5,000,” from Mark’s Gospel.
  • Pray as we gather to celebrate Holy Communion in the chapel on April 26. Pray also for “Jubilation,” as Whitworth’s dancers lead us in worship.
  • Pray for the musicians who will perform in the Whitworth Women’s Choir Spring Concert at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church on April 29. Pray that those who are in attendance will be blessed by the beautiful music they hear.
  • Pray for Initiative 6.1 of Whitworth 2021, “Courage at the Crossroads,” and ask for encouragement and support for Whitworth’s ongoing assessment of graduate and continuing studies programs based on identified goals for mission fit, academic quality and market sustainability.

Thanksgiving:
Lord, we are so thankful for prayer. We can come to you in times of need and in times of trouble. We are grateful that you hear our supplications, and we are not moved by what we see; we are moved by what we believe. We know that prayer changes things. Thank you, Lord, for the gift of prayer.
