The Word Gives Light

Feb. 20-26

Scripture:
Psalm 119:130 (NIV)
The unfolding of your word gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

Prayer:

  • Pray for students to seek wisdom and understanding as they grow spiritually and learn to trust and build confidence in their faith.
  • Pray for students to remember to keep their prayer times with God and to learn from reading the Word.
  • Pray for students to be accountable to one another and to encourage each other.
  • Pray for students who are struggling with their classes, and pray that they will seek the help they need and will fulfill the requirements of their classes.
  • Pray for students who entered Whitworth in 2011, as their high achievments are recognized at the Feb. 26 Honors Colloquium. Pray for these students’ continued success.
  • Pray as we gather for community worship in the chapel on Feb. 21. Ask that our community would be encouraged by the message, based on Mark 1:23-28.
  • Pray as we come together to enjoy community worship Feb. 23, as we hear from Associate Professor of Music Brent Edstrom and celebrate the Lord’s Supper.
  • Pray for Initiative 4.2 of Whitworth 2021, “Courage at the Crossroads.” Ask that we would be successful in assessing current efforts to assist students, faculty and staff in developing intercultural competencies, and that we might measure their effects on the relational quality of the campus environment regarding the living, learning, and working experiences of all members of the Whitworth community.

Thanksgiving:
Lord, we are so thankful because we know that you have plans for us; thank you for being our guide always. We are grateful for your word unfolding before us, and we thank you for lighting our way and giving us understanding in the most difficult times.
