Needing God’s Guidance

Jan. 23-29

Scripture:
Psalm 32:8 (NIV)
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.

Prayer:

  • Pray that our students who have been called to lead will have a passion to share their faith with boldness.
  • Pray for students to be inspired to follow Christ and to let their light shine on and off campus.
  • Pray that students will seek God’s face with all their hearts and souls and strength.
  • Pray that students will stand firm in their faith and that they will not waver in their hope and perfect charity.
  • Pray that faculty and staff will be strengthened as they prepare for the spring term and the many tasks that lie before them.
  • Pray for Whitworth President Beck Taylor as he leads us in 2012; ask that he will continue to find strength and wisdom in the Lord.
  • Pray for Initiative 3.1 of “Courage at the Crossroads,” Whitworth’s 2011-21 strategic plan.  Ask God to expand opportunities for students to study language, engage other cultures and explore understandings of justice in cross-cultural settings throughout the world.

Thanksgiving:
Sometimes, Lord, it’s so hard to see. We squint and struggle to make sense of what you’re showing us. Help us to know when you are guiding us, Lord, and let us know when we are clutching at the wrong answers. Help us know, as the process of peace unfolds, how best to follow your voice, how to love each other with your perfect love, and how to continue to turn to you and, when it’s your will, to wait until the time you choose to answer our prayers. Thank you for teaching us how to live in your care and respond to your voice.

Thank you for these prayers. They—and surely not by coincidence—have been in my heart as well. Lifting up this campus in worship of Christ.
